Animated “Hellboy” director to helm “Dante’s Inferno” feature

The director of the popular animated “Hellboy: Blood & Iron” is slated to helm an animated version of the epic poem, “Dante’s Inferno,” about the nine levels of Hell.

Victor Cook, who is also a producer on “The Spectacular Spider-Man” will be working off of a script by Brandon Auman, a writer for “Iron Man: Armored Adventures.”

“The Beatles: Rock Band” video game slated for release

Beatles fans will have a chance to play like their favorite rock stars in the new video game, “The Beatles: Rock Band.”

Apple Corps, Ltd., Harmonix and MTV Games will release the game on Sept. 9.

The Beatles have been iconic figures in the movie business with their films “Yellow Submarine,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Help,” as well as having their music adapted for the popular film, “Across the Universe.”

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” video game in development

A new “Transformers” video game is being developed by Activision Publishing to promote the next film in the popular Hasbro toy franchise and movie, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

The game is based on Hasbro’s “Transformers” property and the new DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures film, according to a news release. The sequel to the hit 2007 film is slated to hit theaters June 26.

“Ghostbusters” video game slated for June release

A video game featuring a new “Ghostbusters” story is slated to be released by Atari on June 16 in North America with a worldwide release on June 19.

The video game is a tie-in to the 25th anniversary of the “Ghostbusters” movie. The game is also a precursor to the announced “Ghostbusters 3″ movie, which has a scheduled 2010 release date, according to the Internet Movie Database. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky wrote the screenplay for the planned third installment in the popular franchise.

Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the scripts for “Ghostbusters,” and “Ghostbusters II,”  and provided the story for the new video game. …continue reading “Ghostbusters” video game slated for June release
