The success of Tyler Perry’s “Madea Goes to Jail,” has lead to Lionsgate films securing the rights to two more Tyler Perry plays set to be adapted into feature films.

Writer/director/actor/producer Tyler Perry, will be working on “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” and “Why Did I Get Married Too.”

“Superman” to take on werewolves, vampires and other undead

Brandon Routh, who became famous for his role in “Superman Returns” has signed on to fight vampires, werewolves, and the undead in the movie adaptation of best-selling Italian comic book series, “Dylan Dog.”

Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Platinum Studios Inc. have started production on the film adaptation titled, “Dead of Night.”

The producers have also hired Harvey Lowry and Academy Award-winning DRAC Studios to handle make-up effects. DRAC Studios has been nominated 11 times for Best Achievement in Makeup by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, most recently won for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and won twice before for “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” and “Mrs. Doubtfire.”

“Benjamin Button” beats “Hellboy 2″ in the make-up department?!?

The Oscar committee screwed up big time as far as I’m concerned when it came to who won the best make-up design. There is no way in Hell that “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” should have beaten “Hellboy 2.”

I personally have not seen all of “Benjamin Button,” but I did see enough to realize that it only really had the aging making up for Brad Pitt. Which I must admit was done with an amazing style. But it’s just one make-up effect. I can’t even begin to tell you how many different make-up effects are in “Hellboy 2.”

Whether it was being totally enraptured by these little masterpieces listed below, or trashing an equal amount of crap, I can say 2008 satisfied me on both ends (Yes, even the crap, I have a cruel sense of fun). Sadly though, as like last year, I just didn’t have the time nor money to see absolutely EVERYTHING this year.

I can easily name three movies I was dying to see, including, “Let the Right One In,” “Man on Wire,” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” But like a music festival, you just can’t catch every show when all your favorite bands are playing at the same time.  So enough chit chat, here is my personal top ten of 2008, but first, a quick look at a couple stinkers. …continue reading Top 10 of 2008 by T.S.
