“Where the Wild Things Are” producer set to make “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”

Scott Mednick, one of the producers of the highly anticipated Spike Jonze film, “Where the Wild Things Are,” is set to bring the famous “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise to the big screen with a new live action movie set to hit theaters in 2011.

The movie, based on characters original created Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman for comic book series, according to a press release by the Mirage Group. The film is set to focus on the origins of the four turtle characters and their rodent master, Splinter.

This will be the fifth film in the turtle franchise, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

“Superman” to take on werewolves, vampires and other undead

Brandon Routh, who became famous for his role in “Superman Returns” has signed on to fight vampires, werewolves, and the undead in the movie adaptation of best-selling Italian comic book series, “Dylan Dog.”

Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Platinum Studios Inc. have started production on the film adaptation titled, “Dead of Night.”

The producers have also hired Harvey Lowry and Academy Award-winning DRAC Studios to handle make-up effects. DRAC Studios has been nominated 11 times for Best Achievement in Makeup by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, most recently won for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and won twice before for “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” and “Mrs. Doubtfire.”
