“Tearing Down the Tent” band to play at George A. Romero zombie fest

“Tearing Down the Tent” band, Hellblinki Sextet, will be featured at a zombie film festival honoring George A. Romero in Charlotte, N.C. in February.

The Hellblinki Sextet’s music is featured in the circus documentary, “Tearing Down the Tent,” produced by Changing Elevations, Inc. The film is directed by ModernFilmZine writer Michael Knox.

George A. Romero, the writer/director of the 1978 classic cult film, “Dawn of the Dead” will be featured at the event.

The Hellblinki Sextet will play at Amos’ Southend Music Hall on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The venue is part of The Light Factory and Reel Soul presentation: Midnight Dread – a night of zombie delight. The event will feature Romero as guest of honor at the show.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of show. The show will also include a zombie costume contest, free special effects make-up and the midnight screening of “Diary of the Dead.”

The event takes place at Amos’ Southend, 1423 South Tryon St., Charlotte, N.C.

Doors open at 8:30 p.m. The show is open to anyone 16 years old and up.

The Hellblinki Sextet are featured in “Tearing Down the Tent,” with their energetic songs providing the soundtrack to several key scenes in the film. The music has the gift of combining the sounds of Tom Waits and Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

The Hellblinki Sextet show is part of the The Light Factory and Reel Soul presentation of American Zombie, an event held in Charlotte, N.C. that will honor George A. Romero.

George A. Romero, the writer and director of the classic 1978 horror
film, “Dawn of the Dead,” will be appearing in Charlotte, N.C.  in
February as part of the Light Factory’s American Zombie Festival.

The festival takes place. Feb. 20 to the 22, at different venues in
Charlotte, with ticket prices ranging from $8 to $60, depending on the
event. The festival even includes a chance to talk to Romero.

The Light Factory presents a special opportunity for students, film
buffs and filmmakers to interact, ask questions and hear from the
horror master of independent cinema, Director George A. Romero. Fans
can meet Romero during a seminar for $40, or for $60 can enjoy the
seminar and a brunch with Romero.

In addition to Romero’s appearances, which will be held at Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find, the McGlohon Theatre, and the EpiCentre Theaters, the American Zombie festival will also feature Romero judging upcoming talent.

The festival includes an American Zombie Horror Film Contest and Romero is personally judging the top five entries.
